Slugs in garden compost

Kennedy asked 15 years ago

I’m planning to start a raised bed for vegetables this autumn/winter for planting next spring. I have lots of garden compost, but I’m worried about introducing slugs into the vegetable bed – they’ll find it quick enough anyway. Does Nemaslug harm worms, or does it only affect slugs?

Slugs will find their own way and a lot of organic material can support them, especially if not well broken down.

Nemaslug is effective against slugs and does not affect other creatures, but it is not effective for more than a number of weeks.

Go ahead and make preparations and deal with a slug problem if and when it arises.
