This is a variety of lilac and like any lilac, it can be slow to flower. Lilac, and other woody plants, often flower in the pot because of root restriction but cease flowering when planted out, because the plant puts its effort into the production of strong stems and branches.

When it has made a structure of branches, it will return to flowering.
