Can truffles be found under trees in Ireland. I have found knobbly strange scented items in the soil under my trees – could they be truffles and if so can are they edible?

Apparently certain species can be grown, but these are not the same as the black truffle of France or the white truffle of Italy.

Puffball fungi appear as knobby structures before they develop.

It is always wise to seek the advice of a mushroom expert, a specialized area.
