sprayed my lawn with hytrol selective weed killer a month , cant believe how much weeds have died and how little grass has remained , since then i have applied 10-10-20 to boost grass ,it seems to be helping , am i doing the right thing at this stage in time ?

Yes, feeding is a good idea and the grass will recover very quickly without competition. If it is still thin in September, over-sow with grass seed.
