I want to move a weigelia I planted two years ago from the back of a border to a new bed as it is hidden where it is. I thought it would grow upwards but instead it is very straggly and lies on the ground. I probably should have cut it back after flowering last year. It is just about to flower now. Can I move it to the new border or wait until later?

Weigela moves easily at any time when the leaves are off. It can be untidy and often needs some pruning of the flowered shoots after flowering.
