What is the procedure for stratifying whitethorn berries?

Pick the berries and layer them in a heap or pot with layers of sand. Leave them outdoors to get winter cold, but watch for mice. Sow the following autumn and the seedlings will appear in the scond spring.

Or mix some berries with sand, leave in a fridge over winter and sow in spring, Some will sprout in the fistr spring and others in the second spring.
