It is possible to sow lettuce through the winter, using suitable varieties, such as ‘Rosetta’. Ideally other crops should be sown by the end of September, such as radish, chard and rocket.

Cauliflower, such as ‘All the year Round’ can be sown and the plants transplanted in spring. Carrots can be sown to mature in early summer. Broad beans coul dbe sown for planting out in spring.
