Woodlice in my poly tunnel!

Vivien Proudfoot asked 13 years ago

I saw your reply re woodlice, natures dustmen etc. but last year they certainly ate the roots of my cucumber, I have masses of them again this year in my p.t. I garden organically in the p.t. so dont use pestcides, is there anything I can do to get rid of them? my husband suggested Jeyes Fluid (put in during the winter) but we are too late now to use it, and I am worried that it shouldnt be used in a p.t. anyway. Can you help me please?

The thing to remember about woodlice is that they need damp places to shelter and if you have debris or bits of timber and the like, they will take advantage. Clear out all uneccessary loose material and direct water where it is needed, rahter that maintain dampness.

Even if you kill every woodlouse, if the shelter and food conditions are right, others will come in to use the resource. Reduce the resource.
