Apple Trees

Pauline O\’Reilly asked 15 years ago

I have two young apple trees, this is their first year to blossom. I have them since they were little more than whips they were a gift in 2006. They appear to be very healthy, they are old varieties, Appletown Wonder and Glenstal Cooker. One of them has 4 – 5 blossoms and the other is covered in blossom. My question is should I remove some of the blossom from the heavily blossomed one (Appletown Wonder)?

No, leave the blossom and if too many apples still hang on the tree in mid-July, after natural fruit drop, thin them out to one per 15cm of branch.
