Begonias not producing flowers

sylvester asked 8 years ago

Can you suggest a reason as to why begonias, although covered in lush healthy leaves, are not producing flowers? They are potted since beginning of May! I didn’t use fresh compost but, replaced the top few inches and added some Fish-Blood & Bonemeal NPK 5 : 1.3 : 4.2 Would removing some of the leaves encourage flowering?

This sounds like over-feeding and over-watering has resulted in a lot of leaves and flowering has been postponed. No more feeding and reduce watering allowing the compost to become a little dry on the surface between waterings.
