Calla Lilies

Simon Halpin asked 13 years ago

Just wondering should my calla lilies have begun to show yet – I planted them outdoors about the 10th March and there is still no sign of them breaking through the soil – what can I do about them? I planted gladiolus at the same time and they are popping up now.

Calla lilies are really a greenhouse flower in this climate. The white arum lily, or Easter lily, is related, often called calla lily too, and it can be grown outdoors.

The calla lilies need more heat and the plants will probably struggle out of the ground when it warms up, or they may not,

You could investigate carefully what is happening and lift and re-pot for indoor growing.
