I have blue and white Canterbury bells they are currently hidden by shrubs would it be ok for me to dig them up and replant them and would they be more suited to a shady part shady or sunny location?

Canterbury bells is a short-lived biennial plant. You may be referring to a perennial form of campanula, or delphinium, or aconitum. In any case, all of these can be moved, except true Caterbury bells, and like good soil and sunshine.
