own grown carrotts how best to store over winter months- in bags of peet straw or soil. thank you

Carrots can be stored in a pit, with straw and soil cover …. if you can get straw. Or in a shed with earthern floor and some dampness, if youhave such a shed!

Or if you have neither, just make a small pile of the carrots outdoors and cover with soil.  Replace the soil when you remove some to use. Peat or sand can tend to give a taste to the carrots.
