Clematis wilt in pots

shazz samsudin asked 14 years ago

Earlier this week my clematis (‘Avant Garde’, 2 years old in my garden) which was growing in a pot succumbed to clematis wilt. I have cut all stems to soil level. What do I do now in terms of the affected pot: do I change the soil/compost completely and hope that it will recover?

Clematis wilt is unusual in a pot but possible. Leave it for a while and see how it behaves. But clematis wilt is unpredictable and can re-occur. Once a plant has it, it generally goes down again.
