Cottage garden issues

Louise Walsh asked 13 years ago

Im trying to turn sloped garden into a cottage garden. Up to a few years ago it had cattle grazing on it and the ground is very wet. Planted lots of plants during summer (most done well) but did not remove all of the grass or weeds. Plan on hand weeding until plants take over. Will this work or am I setting myself up to fail?

Two difficulties are likely to arise: the wet ground will not suit most plants and the weed control is likely to be laboursome if you satrt with other than weed-free ground.

Address drainage and control weeds. More at:  https://gardenie.wpengine.com/gerrycategory/ground-preparation/?id=5554
