Curly Willow branches

Jill Silva asked 15 years ago
I would like to inquire as to the “salix matsudana” botanical name, I believe, for the curly willow tree. Loves wet soil. A favorite used in floral arrangements in the USA. Where may I purchase it in Co Mayo, Ireland? Would a florist shop have it? Thank you in advance for your help.

The twisted willow, or tortured willow, Salix matsudana ‘Tortuosa’, now correctly Salix babylonica var. pekinensis ‘Tortuosa’ is not commonly available in garden centres as a regular stock item, so it is a case of watching out for it.

But most people would acquire it as a cutting because it roots easily. Any live stem will root when stuck in the ground.
