Daffodils

Colette Brennan asked 14 years ago

Is it too early to tie down daffodils, they look so untidy when the heads have withered but I have been told to let them wither more- is it bad to just clip them back instead of tieing them down as it takes up so much time when you have a lot of them in a bed where you want to plant more plants at the moment

Flower bulbs build up the bulb and flower bud for next year after flowering and if foliage is cut away or even tied, it reduces the plant’s capacity to flower.

The best thing is to move bulbs to areas where they can be left to die back naturally each year.
