How do i dead head roses?

When flowers have gone over, the individual flower, or truss of flowers, and part of the stem can be pruned back to a healthy bud. This encourages continued flowering.

There is no point in doing this with rose varieties that are once-flowering, only those that have new buds coming on and repeat flower.
