Escallonia is prone to leaf spot and this puts a question mark over planting it at all.

On anexpsoed site, plain green holly would be a better bet or use hawthorn mixed with holly. Use small plants.

In an expsoed site, planting is best done from pots in April to allow establishment before winter.
