I built a new lawn from seed on a sloping site last year and it has done really well. During the last year, as the ground settled, I have some dips in the lawn. I have access to some topsoil and am thinking about trying to fill some of these dips to get the lawn level. Is this a good idea? Is this the right time of year to do it?

The trick with a lawn is to make sure the ground is well firmed before seed is sown. It can be a lot of work over a number of years to adjut it afterwards.
But there is no choice but to try to fill hollows with soil, level, firm well, rake and scatter some seed over. This can be done at any time of year but early autumn is best.
