griselinia hedge

Michelle Madigan asked 15 years ago

When is the best time of year to sow griselinia? Can you advise on ground preparation for sowing? Is it possible to buy bareroot plants now and plant them temperarily until intended area is ready and dryer, as budget is low.

Griselinia can be planted at any time of year from pots or bare-root form October to April. Prepare the gorund by killing all weeds with old carpet or Roundup. Clear a strip up to one metre wide.

If you want to save money, clear the strip and simply stick in griselinina cuttings at 30 cm apart. If put in before the year-end, they will root in situ.
