ground ivy

Can anything be done with ground ivy which is gradually creeping around all my shrubs especially hebes. Any suggestions?

Ivy can be a significant nuisance. It self-sows freely from bird-distributed seeds, popping up in shrub border, under hedges and trees. The best way to get rid of this ivy is to chop it out with a spade.

There is really no alternative. There are no chemicals or short cuts. Roundup knocks it back a bit but it almost always recovers to be just as bad. Any chemical runs the risk of damaging the shrubs too.
