Hedge replacement

Sandra Burgess asked 13 years ago

Our 6ft griselinia hedge was destroyed by frost. I am a bit nervous about replanting griselinia and wondered if laurel would be a hardier replacement? If so is it too late to plant a 5 ft laurel hedge which are more than likely going to be bareroot. Does planting them quickly after they have been dug up for sale help in any way or do we have to wait until October?

Laurel is a good replacement and can be planted in April, even bare-root, but the bigger the plants the more risk and they would need watering once or twice a week, 10 litres each plant each time, until they are mak9ng good new growth. The sooner they are replanted after lifting the better.
