Holly for exposed area

Christina Wilkinson asked 14 years ago

I wish to plant Holly for privacy but the area to be planted is opposite, an opening (entrance),with hedges on either side thus creating a wind tunnel effect. The site is exposed.

Holly will cope quite well, but use small plants in a weed-free strip one metre wide and feed in spring with tree and shrub fertiliser or general fertiliser.

If the wind is very severe, you could set up wind-break material for the worst affected area.
