Maggots in damsons

Sinead Weldon asked 15 years ago

This year we found our crop of damsons to be inedible due to the presence of maggots in the fruit. Is there something we can treat the tree with to prevent this happening again next year? Thanks.

The maggots were those of plum fruit moth, which is occasional and the trees are proably too tall to spray with an insecticide just after flowering, which would be the normal treatment.
