How do I maintain my strawberry patch which I have in a polytunnel – the plants are in a mess – lots of dead leaves – do I discard the original plants and replant the runners?

Strawberries are generally grown outdoors and are grown in a tunnel to get early crop.

You can cut away all old leaves in autumn, or winter, or spring if delayed. Take out some runners and grown outdoors. Runners can be potted up in September and brought into the tunnel in January to fruit early and discarded afterwards.
