moss on lawn

I have 1/3 acre Lawn. Lots of Moss. I believe first step is apply sulphate of iron followed by feeding. Now 4th September, if I apply sulphate now when should I see effect and when should I apply feed or seed if necessary?266

Sulphate of iron will control moss but moss will return is grass growth is poor, or if the area is shaded. Iron sulphate needs to be applied every few years usually. You will see an effect within a few days.

Feeding in March and July is essential to allow grass compete with moss by replacing nutrients lost when grass mowings are removed. Mulch mowing returns those nutrients and less feeding is required.

You can also use an autumn lawn fertilizer in September.
