Pachysandra

rita kavanagh asked 14 years ago
I/We are trying to source this plant. We have a sloping bank beside our house (very shady) covered in weeds which we spray and respray. I saw this plant on several similar banks in the USA on a recent trip and thought it would be ideal for us. Any idea of where we could buy it or perhaps and alternative suggestion.

Pachysandra is not that widely sold in garden centres, but it is available. It is more of a landscaping plant and you might get it from nurseries such as Tullys in North Co. Dublin.

It is much used in America where it does better because it gets more summer heat, but it can grow well here too.

A couple of good alternatives would be hellebores and epimedium.
