This old church has pervasive ivy growing on it. We have attempted to sever the roots at the base but the ivy seems to be rooted behind the stones. We believe that if we do not restore this building now it will be beyond saving. How can we get rid of the ivy without damaging the building further?

take off what ivy you can and treat the cuts surfaces with undiluted Roundup. The ivy is growing in the walls and this is the only way to kill it.
