Planting early potatoes

Gerard O\’Brien asked 14 years ago

I have early potatoes sprouting for the last three weeks. Is it to early to plant them due to the current cold weather

It is coming to normal planting time in early March. If the ground is right, dry enough to cultivate, go ahead and plant. The seed potatoes will be safe under the soil and will make roots even though temperatures in the soil are low.

When the soil warms up they will be off to a good start.
