How far apart should i plant hornbeam hedging.I will be planting two rows. Also,what is the maximum height a copper beech hedge should be allowed grow to?

There is no significant reason to plant a double row when planting a hedge. It gives a quicker fill-in but this is very marginal, and makes no difference at the end of a few years. However a double row of plants is much more difficult to keep free of weeds, whether hoeing or spraying.

30 or 40 cm apart is fine for hornbeam.

Copper beech can be allowed to grow as high as you want it, but when it goes much above 1.5metres it becomes more difficult to clip.
