Could you please give me the names of the plants to grow around the soakpit to help remove the nutrients from the water and if possible where to buy them. I have heard them discussed on the radio by no names were given.

There are two types of waste water treatment… one goes to a septic tank and then to a percolation area. Another goes to a tank and the grey water is taken off into reed beds. The reeds remove the nutrients and purify the water.
In the first case no plants are used for the removal of nutrients and the earth itself is the filter. Trees and shrubs can block the percolation area pipes and are not planted over it.
