I have a fungus spreading all over my lawn, It is a dark grey and black colour with light brown crinkly edges.What is it and how can I eradicate it?

This is more likley to be an algal growth than a fungus. It crinkles at the edges in dry weather. It is a sign that the grass is starved for nutrients and feeding the grass with lawn fertilizer usually solves the problem, or if you apply mosskiller it will clear this too.
