problems with midges

healy brian asked 14 years ago

my garden has attracted a load of flying midges and not just around plants, causing kids playing out there to scratch. Now only last evening I fed plants with a tomato feed and that is the only real change added to the garden. Is this the reason for attrracting them or what is and what can be done?

Midges use gardens because of shelter, but they come from forestry or bogland.

Tomato food has no attraction for them.

Nothing can be done about midges, except to stay indoors on dull, warm days.

There are veils and machines that suck them in, in extreme cases.
