Red robin uprooted

A red robin that has been in the same spot for 9 yrs has been uprooted in a storm,It broke where it went into the soil,and was a very healthy tree.What are the chances of it regrowing in spring?

It sounds like it was potbound and the ringed roots did not get a proper grip in the soil. It the tree is tied baut to a strong short stake it will probably furnish itself with better anchor roots.

This might take years and the stake should be strong enough to be left in place for many years.

The top could be cut back a bit to reduce the wind load.
