The Grisilinia hedge at the front of my house has succumbed completely to the weather (just like all the others in my area). I’m hoping to replace it with 6 or 7 shrubs. They’ll need to be tough, frost-hardy, decorative if possible, and I’ll need to keep them at about 4 feet high. The site is facing NNE, so it gets only the early morning sun and it can be quite windy. I’ll be planting inside a 3 foot high wall. Any recommendations please?

Kildare can be very cold and you were probably lucky the griselinia lasted so well. Holly, beech or yew would suit well.
