Replacing dead Griselinia shrub

alex asked 13 years ago
I need to replace a big space occupied by a 30 yr old Griselinia stand alone shrub 10ft across, 10 ft tall that died this winter. Any suggestions on filling this large gap that happens to be located in front of septic tank. South West facing.

A big old griselinia might not be quite dead and still might sprout from the trunk.

If it is dead, holly or Portugese laurel would be fine broadleaved evergreen replacements.

A septic tank can have trees nearby but not a soakaway or percolation area.
