Cabbage root fly only affects cabbage family plants, such as cauliflower, kale, sprouts, turnip, broccoli and radish, and not others vegetables from different families.

The best way to prevent this pest is to place collars of plastic or similar , 15 cm square with a slit halfway across to fit around the stem. Weigh these down with stones.

They prevent the females laying eggs at the base of the stems, but must be applied just after plating, when attacked it is too late.
