Sweet pea growing

Patrick Hickey asked 14 years ago

Please can you tell me if there is any reason why I cannot grow Sweet Pea in the same ground next year? Last year’s display was the best yet.

In general, there is no reason not to grow sweet pea in the same spot. However, there is a chance of pea wilt disease, a soil-borne disease, appearing and this can carry over to following years. For this reason, growers of sweet peas often move the planting location.

Or you could use the same spot until a problem arises and then move.

Pea wilt causes a premature collapse of the plants, often in full flower or just afterwards.
