Wall trained fruit tree

J Murphy asked 13 years ago

Our bungalow has a blank south-east facing end wall. Any suggestions as to what we could grow there? I’d love some sort of fruit tree. We would have to remove some of the concrete path. The wall is quite exposed.

An exposed wall is not ideal for trained fruit trees but you could try an apple or pear if you wished, There needs to be other apple or pear trees in the neighbourhood for pollination.

Decorative climbers such as clematis would need support trellis or wire.

Creepers such as ivy or Virginia creeper would be the best bet, not needing support and more robust against wind.
