looking for ideas for wet area at bottom of lawn. water remains for long period and ground never dries. drainage isnt an option.

The area seems close to a stream or some sort of water course and this my be flooding the area in wet times.
If drainage is not a choice, this offers the opportunity to grow plants that like damp ground. If you wish to plant up the whole area, this could be done with trees, notably alder and willow.
Or you might want to create a semi-natural garden of non-woody flowers, such the giant gunnera, skunk cabbage, peltiphyllum, caltha, iris, eupatorium, astilbe and other plants that like more or less water at their roots.
