Month: March 2011

Couldn’t resist taking a pic this evening of this trailing into the water of the pond. It was a very blustery day!!!

"The best" and "the largest", two plant descriptions that regularly have me reaching for my credit card.

I’ve been plant hunting again and have managed to track down two plants that were on my wants-list. The first is Hemerocallis ‘Sergent Major’. A Daylily with a wonderfully exotic floral display of red and yellow bicoloured spidery blooms, and said to be one of the best rebloomers.

The other, Hosta ‘Empress Wu’, has massive deeply veined leaves, and is currently the worlds largest Hosta cultivar.

These two plants are completely hardy, which is strange for me as very few plants that I’ve grown over the years could ever make that claim. I’m sure, however, they will look perfectly at home in my garden amongst their more exotic neighbours.

Lovely evening in the garden, but TG the rain has just started. It will save me having to water in the hedge tomorrow night. It has been threatening for the last few days, but it never arrived.  Tulips putting on a nice display at the moment.
