Month: March 2013

I really thought I was loosing it. Last saturday I found lots of bulbs scattered in various areas in the garden where i was sure I had planted them in groups of about 12. However as I had planted about 250 bulbs i simply put it it down to interuptions and lack of concentration. So down they went again. This evening I arrived home to find the top of the compost in two of my pots thrown out onto the deck and the bulbs lying on the surface .

They dont look damaged or eaten so can anyone tell me what could be doing this?  It’s not my dog and I dont have cats nearby as far as i know!   Please dont telll me it could be rats!!!!

You will all know the feeling.

I’ve just had two days in the garden. Most likely a little too much bending, streching etc. in one go. But the feel good feeling is well worth it.

I was really pleased to see so many signs of life in Angela’s corner. This area was only planted last year and due to it been so shaded and damp all winter I was taking a gamble with a lot of the plants.

Only really concerned about one so far but it is still early yet.

Just hope there’s enough strength to open the bottle of Vino LOL

Weather for weekend is to be good, so enjoy.

If your in the area and free, the Mount Venus Hellebore Days weekend is on this Sat/Sunday.

……… look what I spotted today.

Right in the middle of one of the Sarracenia you gave me I spotted what I take to be a flower bud / pitcher.

Can you confirm please?

I am planning to pot them on soon, one plant seems to be struggling a little, so we’ll see what happens.

Can’t wait to see these develope, a whole new gardening avenue is starting  ;-))

I just cant pass the plant section in ANY shop…..

So today I was in Tesco just picking up some bread and what was calling and waving at me as I passed the beautiful flowers but these two little beauties….Pieris Mountain Fire and Little Heath….they looked so lovely just sitting there all together. I could hear their little voices saying ‘pick me, no me, yes me pleaseeee’ And me being the good natured person that I am I bought two of each ;)…they were only €4each so not bad at all……they are now in their new home and smiling as I type đŸ™‚

Happy days!

Mountain FireLittle Heath

I was at one of Jimi Blakes open days last year.

While walking around the garden he offered if anyone wanted some Hellebore seedlings to help yourself, so not been shy I, came home with a clump of seedlings.

I planted them and forgot all about them, spotted them yesterday, they have come on great and I may even get flowers next year.

It will be fun to see what comes of them.

I found this single bulb in the shed yesterday, it is since planted up.

I think it may be Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’, can anyone confirm please?
