Lisburn Castle Gardens
Lisburn Castle was built in 1622 and surrounding this fortified manor a garden was created. In 1707 the Castle was destroyed by a major fire and was never rebuilt. In 1903 the garden was gifted to Lisburn to be used as a public park. After detailed archaeological research and a subsequent successful funding application to the Heritage Lottery fund major restoration work was undertaken. The upper 19th century garden and the 17th century terraces were restored to their former glory.
