Just been outside and the sharpness of the air would take your breath away, no really spectacular sunset this evening although looking out now sky is on fire behind the trees. This evening clouds look like snow on the way to further south, the sky was pink all around much pinker than other evenings, set off the clump of trees in the distance on the hills framed by the poplars behind the pond. Wonder what tomorrow will bring know one thing I’ll be dressed for the Arctic conditions to teach this evening.

Trees on the edge of the village have been decked with lights, glad to see they’ve changed the bulbs as the last couple of years it was a red light district. Put up a few more photos of the last November sky, have to say yesterdays was best I’ve seen this year so hot and blue cold of the snow

Despite the weather, I spent a fair bit of time in  the garden today.

First task was to brush the snow off the decking. I did not want it thawing slowly on the decking. Hard work, but it was good to be doing a bit.

I potted on some plants, re-potted my Rhodochiton, sadly, I cut one, and broke off two branches with the best and newest growth.

I moved some pots into the shed, and pottered about.

Glad to see the two fish are still alive, if moving very slowly.

I caught sight of the girl next door looking at me, her look said enough………..hehe.

Another, on going job I now have, will be the removing of snow from the Bamboo Martin gave me.

You would think when folk give you a plant like this, they would provide a snow removal system as well :-))

This is the plant that Fran’s bamboo came from and here I found in the morning that the snow had flattened it, so I gave it a shake and it stood up fully erect again.

Phormium ‘Jester’ was purchased for next to nothing and planted out last year. It survived last winter, so it must be hardy. It’s providing a nice bit of colour in the garden, even though it is still quite small.

Took this photo yesterday of ‘Red Sentinel’ in the snow. I think they look more like glace cherries than ornamental apples.

Didn’t you just enjoy that!    – I mean Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Programme!  It was a real treat, as have been the others in the series! Lifts the spirits and inspires in the dead of winter! All that exciting planting and colour puts a smile on ones face! And if that didnt do it, well Alan’s wit and turn of phrase is bound to do it! "sowing seed….. like shaking salt on your Fish and Chips!"    Long may we enjoy programmes like that!
