To all my gardening friends I hope you and your families have a very peaceful and happy Christmas and that Santy comes to call.

As for me I am looking forward to finishing up today – switching off the mobile and getting a sleep in on St Stevens Day

hope u all have a happy christmas and new year

Do you remember back a while our rescuing a Thisle Thrush who had flown into the window?  Well we worried at the time he may have broken his wing but off he went.  Flew! we assumed.

Now last week we saw a Thisle Thrush with a wing slightly down.  No can’t be, we have a few families who are cat lovers and there are many cats about so No!

Yet, Sally found the thrush under the digger and chased it up the garden. That bird cannot fly but by gum it can run.  It outrun Sally.   It comes every morning and every evening for a feed and it has a mate as far as we can see.  It is not frightened of the crows as the others are and will take on a crow if necessary.  Plucky little thing that’s a true miracle for this year – we only hope it will survive long enough to mate in the spring and i’s offspring inherit some of its wonderful spirit.

In the garden we have:

5 pairs Starlings                            1 single Great Tit

5 pairs Chaffinches                        1 single Coal Tit

1 single Robin                                1 pair Goldfinch

1 pair Thisle Thrushes                    1 pair Blackbirds

We have resorted to buying large buckets of seed and peanuts so we can keep feeding.

The other morning it was so cold that the little birds landed at my feet as soon as I went out the back door – they now rarely fly off when I go out so they can get as much food as possible.

Anyhow, enjoy the next few days.  Luv Glynis

I wish all of you here a very happy Christmas and all the best in the new year.

I hope everything will go well for you, particularly in your garden.

2010 was a very enjoyable gardening year for me, thanks to all the advice and friendship I got here,  They were appreciated,

Next year I hope to do more gardening and compare the photos of this year’s garden with those of next year.

We are luckty to have this site and The Irish Garden.

I am pleased that so many of your children have got home safely for Christmas.  One of our sons was due to come home yesterday but only got to Manchester, as his Dublin fllight was cancelled, but  we hear he has now arrived in Dublin.

I have been looking at the great photos of your gardens and other excellent ones so many of you have added. Thanks!

Best wishes again to all.

 Noel.

Happy christmas to one and all and heres wishing that 2011 will be good to you  and yours.
