trees dying

Louise Lynch asked 15 years ago

Of 5 ten year old whitebeam( i think) trees , the leaves on two have shrivelled and they have stopped growing. The other three look like they are heading the same way. Pic of spotty leaves is attached. Twigs do not seem completely dead as yet.The garden is fairly heavy clay. All 5 trees flourished up til now. Is ther anything i can do?

Whitebeam is normally farily robust. Leaves can be affected by various pests and diseases, such as greenflies and leaf spots. Heavy ground might have become sodden with water and the whitebeam is tree that likes well-drianed ground.

It the ground is wet, try to improve the run -off of water from the area… open drains that might be blocked.
