black patches on leaves and wilt

Melinda O\’Toole asked 16 years ago

what could be causing my new clematis to wilt? would the recent wind and rain be anything to do with it? where my patio is situated is fairly open to the elements and i dont seem to have as much luck with my gardening since i moved here. I have planted a lot of flowering plants before in other abodes, but by times i really loose heart with the results of my efforts here.

A new clematis plant that has been buffeted by winds has probably suffered some physical damage and the affected shoots and leaves have withered and blackened. It is likely acclimatize and grow out of this. Plants are very adaptable.
