Black tomatoes

Angela O\’Donovan asked 16 years ago

Hi Gerry, Our tomato plant seems to be in trouble. The edges of the leaves have gone brown and now the fruits are going black before they ripen. It appears that the top half of each fruit turns black – the half furthest away from the stem. The plant is growing in a large pot in our south and west facing porch. Is there any solution to this? Thank you.

The plant has got blossom end rot, which is caused when the pot goes dry, even just for a few hours. The affected plant and fruit cannot rescued, but in future try to maintain even and adequate watering.
