I’m a very amateur gardener but I love growing things and this Christmas I took a shine to a flower I describe as ‘Ornamental Cabbage’. They are a form of brassica of this I’m sure but are they just cabbage plant flowers? Or have they a specific genus?

Ornamental cabbage is a perfectly good name or ornamental kale, either creamy white or purple and usually bought as plants in autumn. They originally came from Japan.
It can add to a bed or containers. They are just coloured leaves, the flowers often shoot out in spring and are yellow.
